New techniques
I have been experimenting with new working techniques and having a blast with it. The feather cutting on the raven mask went wonderfully. I did the outside edges with the exacto blades as if there were clumped fine feathers and then I went back through with the 1/4 inch ceramic swivel blade and lined the insides of the feather heavily. They came out in such detail that the feathers really looked realistic. I would like to make some smaller face masks that are just feathers with this technique. I also plan to experiment with variance of colors of these feathers. I really need to work through some photographs of feathers to work out
My leather has arrived!
I am thrilled with the leather. I have been home sick a couple of days and early this afternoon my shipment of leather from Wickett and Craig got here. It is LOVELY leather. The quality is very nice and the cut is precise. I love feeling the difference between the 4 6 and 8oz splits I got. I have spent the day making a mask from it and just listed there here. I am going to make a handful of simple masks to place on etsy because I want to be able to display a variety of items with different complexity and prices. So tonight I am working on a very simple black mask as well as a burgandy celtic mask. If all goes well I may complete bo
Waiting for leather
So I am waiting for my leather from Wickett and Craig. I thought I might have it by today as they told me 1-2 days to split the leather and about 3-4 days shipping and I paid last thursday. No luck. I called and they are a bit behind because of all the orders being made to get leather before they close down for 2 weeks for thier annual shut down in July. So now I am hoping it comes along by Wednesday/Thursday next week. I have all these mask designs I want to do and no leather to work with. I am working on putting together a purse kit now. grrrrrrarh. I want my supplies!!
